Trafficback URL

Trafficback URL (Fallback, Redirect URL) is commonly used to monetize the remnant and non-targeted traffic.

If the system cannot accept your traffic for different reasons, it can redirect the user to the link specified as the Trafficback URL. As a result, you do not lose traffic and can monetize remnant traffic on other projects of the affiliate program or third-party resources.

When you set up trafficback, you can use the following links as the trafficback URL:

  1. Affise tracking link. It's possible to redirect remnant traffic to other offers to monetize it.

  2. Affise Smartlink. It's possible to redirect remnant traffic via Smartlink to other offers to monetize it.

  3. Third-party link. It can be any link.

  4. Disabled page URL.

Trafficback types and priority

On Affise, you can set up Local (offer level) and Global (platform level) Trafficback.

There are several schemes of trafficback work based on settings. Generally, the system can redirect remnant and non-targeted traffic to:

  • Local Trafficback (you can set it up in Offers > a certain offer > Tracking > Trafficback URL).

  • Global Trafficback (you can set it up in Settings > Settings > Tracking and Trafficback > Global Trafficback URL).

If you set up a Global Trafficback URL, you can select the following checkboxes:

    • Use for disabled offers: if selected, the system uses a Global trafficback URL instead of a Local trafficback URL if the offer has suspended or stopped status, or it's disabled for an affiliate.

    • Use by other reasons: if selected, the system uses a Global trafficback URL instead of a Local trafficback URL if an offer is not disabled, but the traffic goes to trafficback for other reasons: targeting restrictions, overcap, click-level antifraud, etc.

  • Preview page (you can set it up in Offers > a certain offer > Tracking > Preview URL).

  • Disabled page. If you want to send traffic to the Disabled page, you need to write /disabled.html.

🔎 Also, there is an affiliate trafficback URL, which you can set in the affiliate adding form. It takes precedence over other types of trafficback (local and global).

💰 It's available only for certain plans. Read more about the Affiliate trafficback URL field here.

The system redirects traffic to trafficback when:

  • Traffic is not valid by OS/GEO/DEVICE targeting in your offer (including cases when you use the Smartlink).

  • Traffic didn't find a suitable targeting group (including cases when you use the Smartlink).

  • The activated Click-level antifraud checkbox in the offer settings blocked traffic.

  • When the offer cap is reached and the Overcap option is on.

  • The offer status is not Active.

  • The affiliate is Disabled from the offer.

  • The advertiser is Disabled for the affiliate.

The traffic always goes to the Disabled page in the following cases:

  • Invalid offer_id or pid in the Affise tracking URL.

  • Advertiser/affiliate/offer is not found/is deleted/not existent.

  • Affiliate is not active/on moderation/banned

  • There is no link set up as the Local Trafficback, Global Trafficback, and Preview URL.

Statistics on trafficback

⚠️ You need the following permissions to work with the detailed trafficback statistics: Statistics > Trafficback stats > Read

All users can see the Trafficback column with the number of clicks under their level of access to the data. For example, an Affiliate manager sees only the clicks sent to trafficback of their affiliates.

Trafficback statistics column is located in Statistics > Custom/Daily/Weekly/ Monthly/Advertisers/Account Managers/Affiliates Managers/Affiliates/ Offers/Countries.

⚠️ The Trafficback column disappears if you use the filter by Smartlink and choose a certain Smartlink.

In the Trafficback column, there is a number of all clicks sent to trafficback due to a particular reason.

Once you click the number of clicks, the system moves you to the detailed statistics. There you can see the reason for sending the traffic to trafficback, and the number of clicks that were sent to trafficback due to this/these reason(-s).
